***THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO*** MUST BE LOCATED WITHIN 75 MILES RADIUS TO APPLY 

Pay Range: $26-$30 per hour + Overtime

The Well Service Field Mechanic is responsible for maintenance and repair of diesel trucks, trailers, well service rigs, diesel pickups, well service triplex pumps, power swivels and various pipe handling tools and equipment.  This position requires a strong knowledge of diesel engine repair, truck power train repair, and transmission and right angle drive replacement.  The Mechanic must be able to work with an extensive array of power tools, jacks, hoists, presses, forklifts, power packs and cutting tools.  In addition, the Field Mechanic must be experienced at using grinders, power saws, welders, truck mounted cranes, cutting torches, spray paint equipment, and various other heavy duty shop tools.

Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Works in a safe, healthy and environmentally protective manner
  • Replaces brakes on diesel trucks and trailers
  • Replaces transmissions and right angle drives  
  • Inspects and assures the equipment is safe, field ready and repaired to specifications
  • Performs major repairs at the well site occasionally
  • Services handling equipment
  • Maintains BOP equipment
  • Specifies and procures replacement parts
  • Troubleshoots diesel engine electronic ignition issues
  • Works well with other mechanics and participates in problem solving
  • Works occasional weekends and/or nights
  • Reports and corrects any unsafe work practices and safety hazards
  • Participates, trains and takes a leadership role in all safety programs, processes and requirements
  • Attends Operations Training up to two times per year and up to five days per training at designated locations
  • Performs other duties as directed by management

Qualifications

The employee must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Pass a post-offer physical examination, fitness testing, safety aptitude test, drug tests & background check
  • Provide proof and maintain proper legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Speak and read English well enough  to understand verbal and written safety postings, alerts and announcements, communicate with co-workers and be able to participate in job safety analysis meetings
  • Possess a valid CDL License and meet Ensign Insurance Requirements to drive

Technical Competencies

  • Understands and is capable of reading all safety / training requirements and materials
  • Understands all rig and truck components and necessary servicing, according to maintenance schedules

Education and Experience

  • Possesses a 2 year mechanical degree
  • Possesses a CDL and meets Ensign Insurance Requirements to drive is preferred
  • Possesses own hand tools and locking boxes
  • Exhibits safe shop work practices
  • High School diploma or GED is preferred

    • Uses the correct protective clothing and equipment as provided by Ensign and guards against misuse or damage to such equipment
    • Reports any hazardous situations arising in the workplace that cannot be self-corrected, or injury incurred during the course of work, no matter how minor
    • Avoids injury resulting from manual handling tasks, by use of risk assessment, correct mechanical handling equipment and correct manual handling techniques
